"Referéndum days", segundo aniversario del 1-O

Se cumplen dos años de uno de los acontecimientos más importantes en la historia moderna de Catalunya, y las cicatrices son más visibles que nunca: criminalización del independentismo, exiliados, presos políticos, 155 en el horizonte, sociedad fracturada... es el triste precio a pagar por realizar una consulta democrática.

El 1 de octubre de 2017 se celebró en Catalunya un referéndum de autodeterminación para decidir el futuro del pueblo catalán. Una consulta declarada ilegal por el Tribunal Constitucional, y a la que se llega tras una serie de catastróficas desdichas políticas que llevan a una división de la ciudadanía como no se recordaba desde los tiempos de la larga noche de piedra.

La consulta estaba prevista para el domingo. Desde el viernes, los colegios electorales son ocupados por vecinos, que realizan actividades culturales y deportivas de manera continua para evitar que la policía los precinte. El sábado una gran manifestación por la unidad de España recorre el centro de Barcelona. Los unionistas defienden que Catalunya no tiene derecho a la autodeterminación, y se amparan en la Constitución española de 1978 para declarar ilegal dicha consulta.  Se puede escuchar el “cara al sol” y ver saludos fascistas. Aunque son gestos minoritarios, la apología del fascismo resulta algo inadmisible en un estado avanzado.

Ya el domingo, los vecinos colapsan desde las 5 de la mañana la mayoría de los colegios electorales para evitar su cierre. Los muros humanos consiguen su cometido en algunos colegios, pero otros son desalojados por la fuerza por la Guardia Civil y la Policía Nacional, que se dedicó a jugar al gato y el ratón (apaleado) por Barcelona, buscando el momento idóneo para acceder a cada recinto de votación y decomisar el mayor número de urnas posibles. Las imágenes de las fuerzas de seguridad cargando contra el pueblo para evitar que ejerza su derecho al voto quedarán grabadas durante generaciones en Catalunya.

Sin embargo, los organizadores se las apañan como pueden para burlar todos los intentos del Gobierno por impedir la consulta, y finalmente más de 2 millones de catalanes ejercen su derecho a voto, a pesar de la dura represión por parte de las fuerzas de seguridad del Estado. Con un 43% de participación, el SI a la independencia se impone con el 90% de los votos.  Sin embargo estos datos no tienen ninguna validez legal, y suponen el comienzo de un juego de despiste entre el Gobierno y el Govern, una maravillosa performance que tiene como finalidad (o como daño colateral, a gusto del consumidor) el distraer a la población de asuntos de gravísima importancia que amenazan a nuestra sociedad: corrupción galopante, desigualdad creciendo cada día, pobreza, vaciado de las arcas de la Seguridad Social, regalos milmillonarios a la banca, interferencias políticas del IBEX 35… son temas que pasan a un segundo plano.

Dos años después, hay que seguir mostrando las imágenes vividas ese 1-O, puesto que existen intereses en crear un relato a medida sobre lo sucedido. Para los que lo vivimos en primera persona, fue un día que supuso un auténtico ejemplo de pacifismo e iniciativa social, únicamente roto por la violencia ejercida por las fuerzas de seguridad del Estado, más como un castigo que con una finalidad útil. Se puede hablar y debatir sobre la legitimidad de la consulta, su legalidad o su sentido, pero nunca sobre su carácter totalmente pacífico, algo que es innegable.
