El próximo 7 de Diciembre el Microsoft Theater de Los Ángeles acoge la quinta edición de The Game Awards, considerados por muchos como los “Oscar de la industria de los videojuegos” y también conocidos como los GOTY (Game Of The Year). Red Dead Redemption 2 y God of War lideran el número de nominaciones con un total de 8, incluida la de Juego del Año.   Otros de los favoritos son  Marvel’s Spider-Man, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Fortnite y Celeste. La entrega sera retransmitida en 40 plataformas de streaming como Youtube, Twitter o Facebook.   A través de un vídeo publicado por Geoff Keighley, organizador del evento, se han dado a conocer los juegos que lucharán por los galardones en las diversas categorías de los The Game Awards 2018. https://twitter.com/geoffkeighley/status/1062402505416433664 La expectación no solo se suelen centrar en la lista de premiados, sino que también en The Game Awards se suelen anunciar futuros videojuegos en desarrollo, como el más que esperado Avengers Project.
